Do Now 9/29

An editorial is an article written by an editor that gives an opinion on an issue. In the past, my teachers have told me that Wikipedia is not a reliable source because they sometimes put false information that we can see as correct information. I was also told by some teachers that Wikipedia is good to use sometimes because it sometimes can have the correct information but you always want to double check on another site. Some teachers do let me use Wikipedia as a source for little projects because they say its okay to use. Other teachers say it isn't because to them its not a reliable source. After reading this article my thoughts have changed because when i was told Wikipedia isn't a reliable source I kind of believed it. However, this article showed that Wikipedia is a good source and many teachers and students use it.

Apple releases a temporarily fix for iOS 8 update problems

  •  Some users who downloaded iOS 8 experienced  network issues updating to iOS 8.
  • They were unable to fix this problem even if they restarted their phone or resetting the network devices.
  • They were also unable to fix the Touch ID by removing and re-installing their fingerprints.
  • Some users also faced a problem with the new iPhone 6 by the phone bending when they put it in their pockets.
  • Apple has had issues in the past with software updates. They are currently trying to investigate what they need to do to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Posting Sem 2_Pre

This year, I have Mrs. Garvin as my World History teacher. Her room number is 212 which is located by the staircase coming upstairs from the middle school. I have her 5th period right after lunch. Mrs Garvin lived in Wood-Ridge since she was four years old. She also is a big Jets fan and she went to Purdue for college. Mrs Garvin is in charge of student council for 10th grade. When the class first started I expected to learn about the Renaissance, wars, and History from the 1300's to the 1900's. I also expect that we will be doing more DBQ's and learn about detectives of history. This year I want to learn about new cultures and how parts of the world really are. This year we will be learning a lot and I'm excited to learn more about our history.
In Mrs Garvin's class we have learned about the Renaissance. We also learned about the black death and Renaissance Art. We also did a few fun projects in class. Yesterday, we walked around the room and tried to figure out hints to what the clues were. This project showed the class what was helpful today rather than back then. We also compared Renaissance Art by looking at modern, medieval and Renaissance Art. We compared the similarities and differences of all of them then choose two to work with. My group choose the modern and Renaissance pictures that we worked with.
Mrs Garvin's grading policy is fair. Forty percentage of our grade go to Summative Assessments which is 65% of tests and 35% of DBQ essays. Another part of our grade go to Performance Based Assessments which is 20% of class Assessments and 80%  from projects. Homework counts as 10% of our grade and the other 10% goes to Formative Assessments which includes participation. So far this year in World History I enjoyed comparing and contrasting Renaissance Art as a project. After we compared and contrasted we choose two pictures to compare and contrast instead of three. In this class technology is used for taking attendance, watching videos, and power-points. This year has been great so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year with all my friends and teachers!

Educational Technology and Copyright Law

Things I learned from this article...

  • Copyright laws are on books to encourage the creation of content and not restrict its access.
  • Copyright is a United States federal law that protects works of authorship.
  • All content is copyrighted immediately and does not require filling out paperwork of any kind.
  • Fair use is better than copyright because it doesn't go against the law.
  • I think this article was a great article because it stated many things about how copyrighting is bad.
